#224 Moonlit Treasure
Title: Moonlit Treasure
Pairing: Minseok/Junmyeon
Side pairing(s): none
Rating: NC-17
Word Count: 12k
Warnings: smut
Summary: Junmyeon is honestly just trying to write his book and ends up getting more than that.
Author's Notes: I know the prompt said “shy novelist Junmyeon” but somehow he became “shy and trashy erotica novelist Junmyeon”. I… don’t know haha but I hope you enjoy it ;v; even if he’s a piece of trash. A big big bIG thank you to the people who helped me a lot with this <3 ily
"What a good boy," Euntaek whispered huskily against Chanyong's smooth neck and Chanyong closed his eyes, breath hitching. "Saying please and all," Euntaek added, sliding his han-
"Excuse me." Junmyeon grunted as his writing was interrupted. Dammit, he just got the writing flow. He looked up, lips pursed and eyebrows furrowed just as a man sat down in front of him, cup in his hands. Junmyeon just looked at him, taking in his every feature. He had black hair, quite long and parted in the middle, a nice smile with his gums showing and soft eyes in a warm brown color. "I don't mean to interrupt you," he said and Junmyeon raised an eyebrow. "But I think you took my coffee."
Immediately, Junmyeon looked down on his cup. He hadn't tasted his coffee yet. He grabbed the cup, it was still hot, and looked down. There was no foam, like a latte should have, only black coffee staring right back at him.
"Oh." Well this was embarrassing. "I haven't tasted it yet!" he hurried to say, handing over the cup to the man who smiled widely at him. "I'm so sorry!"
"Don't worry about it," the man said, pushing the cup over to Junmyeon. Junmyeon nodded taking the cup before lowering his gaze, eyes falling on his computer screen. He needed to continue the scene. It needed to be sent to his editor soon.
"I'm Minseok." Junmyeon snapped his head up and stared at the man, Minseok, who was still sitting in front of him.
"I'm Junmyeon!" Junmyeon quickly replied, feeling his cheeks heat up a little. He was sitting in front of a very attractive man, being his normal awkward self and he had a half page of an unfinished erotic scene open on his computer. This wasn't too good. He tilted the laptop screen down a little, just for safety.
"Did I interrupt something?"
“Oh no,” Junmyeon quickly replied, shutting his computer completely. “I got stuck with work anyway,” he lied. He wasn’t really stuck with his writing, but it might be a little weird to say “yes you interrupted me writing an erotic scene.”
“Is it okay if I sit with you while drinking my coffee?” Minseok asked, changing subject and Junmyeon just nodded. “My friend cancelled on me in the last minute and... there's not many available chairs right now.”
“Ah,” Junmyeon nodded again, looking around the coffee shop. True, there were very few chairs available and not a single table either. There was an awkward silence and Junmyeon took a sip from his latte, trying to think of something to say. He couldn’t say “nice weather today” because that was the worst thing one could say in situations like this. “So…” he began, nervously licking his lips as he placed the cup back on the table. “What do you work as?”
“I’m an architect,” Minseok replied, smile tugging on his lips.
“Oh, that’s cool,” Junmyeon said, immediately leaning closer.
“How about you, what do you work with?”
“I’m…” Junmyeon trailed off, unsure of what to say. “I’m a writer,” he said.
“Wow that’s interesting,” Minseok said and Junmyeon could feel the tips off his ears heat up. “What genres are you writing?”
“Romance… most of the time,” he replied, face flushing. To say romance wouldn't be a lie. He wrote romance... that often went further and ended up as erotic novels but there was romance there too.
"To be honest," Minseok lowered his head, gazing down into his coffee cup and an almost shy smile tugged on his lips. "I like romance novels a lot."
"It's a nice genre," Junmyeon replied, smile spreading over his lips. "Do you read a lot?"
"I do!" The excitement in Minseok's eyes was quite cute and Junmyeon tried to ignore the way his heart speed up. "I try to read as often as I can. I often end up reading an hour or so before I go to bed, if I don't have work and fall asleep over construction plans... How about you? Do you read?"
"I used to read a lot," Junmyeon said, still smiling. "I don't really... have the energy to look at more words in the end of the day."
"Ah," Minseok nodded, taking a sip from his coffee. "Do you ever take time off?"
"Usually after finishing a book." Going into his books was a bit of a dangerous territory, as Minseok might actually ask for the titles of his books. "So, who's your favorite author?"
Had life been anything like Junmyeon's books, Beans n’ Cream to be specific, he and Minseok would have exchanged numbers. But there's a line between real life and Junmyeon's fictional worlds, so of course he and Minseok didn't exchange numbers. They parted when Minseok's phone beeped and he sent Junmyeon an apologetic smile. He had to go back to his apartment; apparently one of his colleagues needed a construction plan Minseok had been working on.
After their meeting, Junmyeon barely thought about Minseok at all. He was too busy trying to get done with the draft and send it to his editor. It was only the first five chapters of the book, but he needed to know if he was on the right track.
But right now, his brain simply refused to cooperate with him. He'd been sitting for a good three hours, just staring at his document.
"Euntaek," Chanyong breathed when the older pushed him against the wall, his strong hand on Chanyong's shoulders. His breathing was uneven and harsh as he fumbled to undo Euntaek's pants. Euntaek ran both his hands down Chanyong's arms and then hooked his fingers in Chanyong's pants, leaning closer to kiss him. Chanyong groaned against Euntaek's lips when his pants were pushed down a little and a hand was placed on his cock, stroking him through the fabric of his boxer briefs.
"Undress," Euntaek leaned down and huskily whispered in Chanyong's ear, his words sending a shiver of anticipation down Chanyong's spine. "I'm getting the lube and a condom," he continued, running a hand along Chanyong's jaw before pulling back and leaving Chanyong pressed against the wall. Heat was still rushing through his body, coiling in his stomach and he swallowed as he watched Euntaek disappear into his bedroom. With trembling hands he pulled his pants off all the way together with his boxers and threw them to the side.
This wasn't going anywhere. Everything felt wrong. Junmyeon groaned and pinched the bridge of his nose, then moving on to rub his eyes. He'd added nothing to this today and he was getting frustrated. Maybe he should take a break, go outside and do something.
"A walk would be nice," Junmyeon mumbled to himself, saving his progress before shutting the computer close. As he stood up, his whole body felt stiff and he groaned again, stretching his arms above his head. Just how for long had he been sitting in his chair?
He threw a quick look out his apartment window before heading to the door to take on his shoes. It was sunny today so he wouldn't need a jacket. He just grabbed his phone, wallet and keys and headed out the door.
A quick walk would hopefully clear his head.
He ended up entering his favorite coffee shop and ordering a latte, sitting down at a table by the window and just blankly stared at the people walking past the coffee shop, his hands around his cup of coffee.
How should he move on in this scene? The novel?
Ugh, he didn't want to think about it. Maybe he should look at his old works, reviews on them and see what he needed to improve. Rubbing his left eye Junmyeon sighed and reached for his phone. Sometimes he looked up himself on the Internet he wasn't going to lie. He might not be author of the century but he had his fair share of fans and that made him feel quite good.
Since he used a pseudonym, Suho, there were some speculations about his identity and it was very amusing to read all those speculations.
He'd done some interviews via email and shared some minor facts about himself, the fact that he's a guy, he's gay, and he’s born in 1991 and lives in South Korea. But even so, some of his fans doubted this information. There were all kinds of speculations and Junmyeon kind of wanted to reveal himself, only to see the reactions. But he had the pseudonym for a reason. It felt better to sort of hide himself, since his novels were a bit embarrassing and he wasn’t sure what his family would think.
"Do you mind if I sit?" a familiar voice said suddenly and Junmyeon jumped in surprise, dropping his phone. He stared wide-eyed up at Minseok. "I didn't mean to scare you."
"No, it's okay," Junmyeon hurriedly said. "Please sit down."
Minseok smiled widely and sat down in front of Junmyeon. "I haven't seen you here in a while. Been busy?"
"You wouldn't believe it," Junmyeon sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "I have a deadline so I can't do much about it though..."
"I see," Minseok hummed, bringing his cup up to his lips. "Sounds tough."
"I shouldn't complain," Junmyeon continued. "I mean I control my own working schedule, so that's nice..." he glanced up at Minseok who nodded. "How about you? How have you been?"
"Work work work," Minseok shrugged and Junmyeon hummed in agreement. "We've been working on a new apartment complex in Apgujeong and you know..." he trailed off and shoot Junmyeon a playful smile. "It has to be posh and grand. They think we're doing things too simple."
Junmyeon nodded, enjoying listening to Minseok’s voice. He didn’t come here to get company but it was a surprise that wasn’t unwelcomed. Minseok had a really soothing voice and Junmyeon found himself thinking that he could listen to Minseok talking all day long.
Junmyeon was still staring at the document in front of him. He had made it to the deadline but it was starting to feel a lot like his first book... containing only porn, but this time it was a little less embarrassing. He glanced over at his bookshelf, the title of his first book Thief of Seeds glaring back at him. He quickly looked back, he'd rather not think about his first published work ever again.
"Do you like that?" Euntaek said, hips snapping forward. Chanyong cried out into the pillow, hands gripping onto the sheets
"Yes," Chanyong gasped, his stomach muscles tensing up. He was so close now. So, so close. He could hear Euntaek grunt, a sign that he was also close. A sob escaped his lips as he finally gave in and came onto the mattress. His whole body tensed and he clenched around Euntaek's cock. Euntaek groaned, hips stuttering as he came. Chanyong was breathing heavily into the pillow, his cheek pressed uncomfortably against the wet, drool spot on it, while Euntaek tried to catch his own breath. He then pulled out and Chanyong could feel cum dribbling out of his hole before he rolled to the side, dropping on his back.
Maybe Euntaek came off too strong. There hadn't been much tender moments between these two, Junmyeon realized. He had been completely into the sex parts, which were the most popular ones... His editor had told him to focus on the sex, because that drew in readers.
There should be more romance, Junmyeon concluded. There needed to be a balance. Not too much of either. He needed to work out their relationship more. They couldn't meet at a nightclub and start their relationship like this. He frowned as he picked up his phone to send his editor a message on kakaotalk.
To: Jongdae
Hey, I'm changing the plot a little. Just a heads up until the next deadline.
Then he just switched off his phone. He didn't need to hear Jongdae complaining about him changing things like this or Jongdae asking what changes he's doing. He needed peace and quiet.
If Euntaek and Chanyong didn't meet at a nightclub, where would they meet? At a coffee shop? No, he'd done the coffee shop concept once and it wouldn't work again unless it was a sequel to A Cup of Love.
Should he just make them younger and- no, that won’t happen. Library then? A public library. That could work. His brain immediately sparked an idea and he had to open a new, blank document on his computer.
It took him an hour of writing to get a decent start to the whole book, again, and this time he tried to soften Euntaek's edges a little. Less dark and mysterious, more friendly and outspoken.
Euntaek felt a bit odd to him, as Junmyeon often tended to write his characters a bit mysterious and stoic. But he was also a breath of fresh air, something new. Maybe his readers would like this change.
He paused his writing to look down on his phone. Should he turn it on? No, the silence was nice.
Junmyeon was impatiently tapping his fingers against the counter as he waited for his coffee. He was just going to take a caramel latte to go and head back to his apartment. He'd been sitting around in his apartment for days now, this time because he was actually getting somewhere with his novel so he didn't really want to leave his apartment.
Where should he go now? There was still a gap in between Euntaek and Chanyong's first meeting and their first date, and between the third date and the first time they have sex. He was currently filling in the gap between the third date and the first time they had sex, but he needed to fill in the gap between their first meeting and first date, and he was not sure what would fit. At first he was thinking to just do a quick paced love story... which was actually just an excuse to write porn, but his second newest released book was quite similar, except from settings and such. Let's not talk about that book.
"An Americano to go," a familiar voice suddenly said and Junmyeon snapped out of his thoughts, looking up. It was Minseok, handing some money over to the cashier. When he finished paying and turned around, Junmyeon raised a hand to give a small wave. He watched as Minseok's lips stretched out in a smile.
"We should stop meeting like this," he said as he walked up to Junmyeon, leaning down a little to rest his elbows on the counter. Junmyeon hummed, drumming his fingers a bit nervously against the wooden surface.
"We should," he agreed and Minseok turned his head a bit to look up at Junmyeon.
"You know what," he began, smile still present on his lips. "You should give me your number."
"Are you..." Junmyeon trailed off, tongue darting out to lick his lips. "Are you asking me out on a date?"
"Do you want it to be a date?" Minseok fired back and Junmyeon blinked. Minseok was attractive, he was nice, he liked reading and Junmyeon would love to get to know him better.
"Yes," he finally replied, reaching for his phone. "Yes I'd like that," a smile tugged on his lips as he unlocked his phone and handed it over to Minseok. "You can text yourself."
"So, how does your schedule look?" Minseok asked as he typed in his number on Junmyeon's phone. "Because I might get off work earlier tomorrow and if the weather is nice, we could go to the park."
"It's flexible," Junmyeon replied, taking the phone from Minseok when he handed it back.
"I'll check my schedule tomorrow and text you," Minseok promised just as Junmyeon got his order.
"That sounds..." he trailed off, unsure of what he was actually going to say, "good," he finished, taking the hot, take away mug in his hand. "It sounds really good."
Minseok didn't reply, he just smiled and Junmyeon lowered his gaze, looking down at the lid of his coffee mug. "I have to go now, but..." he looked up again, "text me when you know?"
"Of course," Minseok promised, raising his hand to send Junmyeon a little wave. "Good luck with the writing."
"Thank you," Junmyeon said, sending Minseok one last smile before leaving the coffee shop, rushing home with his caramel latte in hand and suddenly a lot of new ideas spinning in his head.
"Hey," Euntaek suddenly broke the silence and Chanyong looked up from his book, up at Euntaek who was sitting on the opposite side of the table. "How many times are we going to meet like this?"
Biting the inside of his cheeks, Chanyong shrugged.
"You know what?" Euntaek just continued, smirk tugging on the corner of his lip.
"What?" Chanyong asked, frowning as his eyes flickered between Euntaek and the book he held in his hands. He was actually starting to get into the story and Euntaek was bothering him a little.
"You should give me your phone number," Euntaek said.
"Did I make you wait long?" Minseok's voice made Junmyeon quickly look up from his phone and lock it.
"No, you didn't!" he lied, he had arrived twenty minutes too early and had spent those minutes writing the beginning of the scene before Euntaek and Chanyong went to their first date on his phone while waiting for Minseok. He swallowed once before smiling widely at Minseok. "You're just on time."
"That's a relief," Minseok said, his eyes turning into crescent moons as he smiled, gums showing. He had a really nice smile, how come Junmyeon didn't notice that before? Minseok tilted his head up, looking at the clear blue sky. "Since the weather is nice, should we go to the park?"
"That sounds great," Junmyeon agreed. Minseok gave him another wide smile and turned around towards the park. Quickly Junmyeon shoved his phone into his pocket and hurried to catch up with Minseok.
"We're lucky with the weather," Minseok commented, glancing over at Junmyeon who just nodded in agreement. "We could go and eat ice cream, if you like ice cream."
"I love ice cream!" Junmyeon said, his voice maybe a bit too loud and he immediately bit his tongue after he had spoken. Why did he have to be so loud? Minseok probably found him annoying now.
"I do too!" Minseok's voice was lower and Junmyeon felt really embarrassed but grateful that Minseok didn't seem to mind. "I really like chocolate and the ice cream shop in this park has amazing ice cream."
"I've only been to that shop once," Junmyeon said. "And I only had milkshake so, you have to tell me what flavors I should pick."
"Don't worry, I'll help you," Minseok promised and Junmyeon nodded, biting his lip as a smile was beginning to form on his lips.
They continued to walk in silence along the sidewalk, not saying anything. Junmyeon couldn't really come up with anything good to say, everything he could come up with was ridiculous. The silence wasn't unbearable but it was quite awkward and Junmyeon found himself looking around the park as they entered, everywhere except at Minseok.
He hadn't been on a date in what felt like a century. Last time he went on a date was with his ex-boyfriend from university, an exchange student named Yifan. Back then it wasn't this awkward, Junmyeon thought, frowning a little.
"We're here," Minseok broke the silence and tore Junmyeon out of his own thoughts and Junmyeon blinked as he took in the appearance of the small ice cream shop. Last time he'd been here was with Jongdae, his editor, and that was probably two or three years ago.
"They've changed their sign," Junmyeon noted, eyes on the pink sign with an ice cream on. Before it had been dull, brown and only spelled out 'Ice cream'. "It looks a lot better now."
"Yeah, the old one was quite boring," Minseok agreed as he held up the door for Junmyeon. Thanking Minseok, Junmyeon slowly stepped inside the ice cream shop, looking around. It was decorated in quite bright colors, mostly pink. He followed Minseok up to the counter, greeting the cashier before peering down at the ice cream display. There was the more classic flavors like vanilla and chocolate, but also a green pistachio nut flavored, a rainbow colored ice cream named "rainbow", a pink one named "candy" and many, many more.
"Which ones do you prefer?" Junmyeon asked, not looking away from the ice cream. There were a lot of flavors to pick and honestly, he had not the slightest idea what to pick.
"I usually just stick with vanilla and chocolate," Minseok said and Junmyeon turned to look at him. "But if you have a sweet tooth, then I would suggest the candy one."
"I have a bit of a sweet tooth, I think I'm going to try that one." To say he had a bit of a sweet tooth was an understatement, but Minseok didn't need to know that.
"Is there anything else you want?" Junmyeon looked back on the ice creams, furrowing his brows.
"Vanilla," he finally decided and looked back on Minseok.
"Alright," Minseok said, taking out his wallet from his pocket.
"You don't have to pa-"
"I want to," Minseok cut him off. "Let me pay this time."
"Alright," Junmyeon gave in. He could pay for himself... maybe he could pay next date......if there ever was a next date.
There was a next date. It was actually three more dates. The first three, the ice cream date included, dates they had been going somewhere food related. Ice cream shop, coffee shop and a restaurant. Their first kiss had been after their third date, when they parted after eating at the restaurant. Junmyeon had squealed like a teenager into his pillow when he’d gotten home.
But for their fourth date, they had decided that just a walk in the park would be enough.
Luckily, the weather had decided to be on their side and the sun was shining brightly as they sat down on a bench. In front of them was a playground, full with laughing kids and smiling parents. It seemed like something taken from a movie.
"I going to pick up reading again," Junmyeon suddenly said, turning his head to the side to look at Minseok.
"Oh really?" Minseok asked, leaning back against the bench. "Reading is a nice way to get rid of stress."
"I think it might be good to look at other's writings, not only my own," Junmyeon said and Minseok nodded, humming in agreement. "Do you have any suggestions for me?"
"Hm," Minseok leaned forward again, rubbing his chin. "I can't come up with anything right now. Is it okay if I bring some books next time?"
"Of course of course," Junmyeon said, beaming at Minseok. "I'm happy with just one suggestion."
Minseok laughed, saying something about having too many good books and Junmyeon just smiled, happiness rising in his chest.
Minseok had texted him a lot of suggestions on books later that night and the day after, Junmyeon had gone to the library to borrow two of them. They seemed like good books and he trusted Minseok’s judgment.
When they began to plan their next date, Minseok promised he’d bring some books with him. Due to Minseok’s schedule suddenly becoming hectic, they had to push their date up two weeks and Junmyeon honestly felt really lonely during those three weeks of not seeing Minseok.
Basically the only company he had was Jongdae bothering him about the draft.
From: Jongdae
I need a draft
From: Jongdae
Seriously
From: Jongdae
Don’t ignore me
Junmyeon stared at the Kakaotalk messages and then just locked his phone again. He was in the middle of playing Viva Piñata on his computer, he didn’t have time for Jongdae right now. Then his phone beeped again and he looked down on the screen.
From: Jongdae
FFS JUNMYEON
From: Jongdae
I know you’ve seen these messages!! Reply to me!!1
Junmyeon frowned down on his phone. He was about to pick it up but suddenly the game warned for a Sour Mallowolf. Nope, Jongdae had to wait. Saving his piñatas from being eaten was more important.
Minseok was late.
This was the first time Minseok was late and Junmyeon wasn’t sure if he should be worried or not. Probably not since Minseok was only five minutes late but he still couldn’t help but worry a little.
As the minutes passed, Junmyeon began to nervously rub his hands together, looking around the park. He leaned back against the bench, crossing his legs.
“Junmyeon!” Finally Minseok approached him, pace quick and when he sat down beside Junmyeon, he was out of breath. He really looked like he’d rushed to the park. His hair was sticking in every possible direction and the collar to his shirt was a bit crooked. “I’m really sorry, I overslept!”
“No it’s okay,” Junmyeon said, reaching out to straighten Minseok’s hair, smoothing down the wild stands of hair before moving down to straighten his collar. Minseok usually looked so well put together and Junmyeon assumed this was a one-time thing.
“I forgot my phone too,” Minseok continued, chuckling as he ran his hand through his hair. “But I remembered the books.”
“I’ve been really curious about the books,” Junmyeon said, inching closer to Minseok, taking his hand to stroke his fingers. “And… I really missed you.”
“You did?” Minseok asked and Junmyeon nodded, feeling a bit embarrassed. For god’s sake he was 26, not 16! His tiny bit of embarrassment didn’t last long because Minseok leaned closer to kiss him, soft lips against Junmyeon’s slightly chapped ones. He was smiling, his perfect teeth and gums showing, when they broke the kiss. “I missed you too.”
“Let’s not wait three weeks for next date,” Junmyeon said, stroking Minseok’s hand with his thumb.
“No, that’s too long,” Minseok agreed. He gave Junmyeon’s hand a squeeze before letting go. “Now I have to give this to you before I forget,” he continued, reaching for his bag. As he handed Junmyeon the book, Junmyeon thought he would have a heart attack.
It wasn’t just any book. It was – fuck – it was the first book he’d ever written. Thief of Seeds, a crappy erotica novel that he’d written at the age of 19.
“I really like this author,” Minseok began and Junmyeon slowly took the book from him. “I read this when it was newly published and the author is a year younger than me. It’s been quite fun to follow his developments. I mean, this is not the best piece of literature out there-“ no it was freaking terrible “-but you know, I still like it. Because I like the author. I like all his books, except Tangled Up, it’s a bit weird.”
Junmyeon just continued to stare. This wasn’t happening. Minseok just recommended his book. Minseok read his books.
“I’ll…” he trailed off, sending Minseok a strained smile as he took the book from him. “I’ll give it a go.”
“Tell me what you think about it later,” Junmyeon just nodded. He didn’t actually know what to say about this so he quickly placed the book in his bag and changed the subject.
After talking about various casual things, they got up from the bench to just mindlessly stroll around town, hand in hand.
“Hey Minseok,” Junmyeon began and Minseok hummed, giving Junmyeon’s hand a light squeeze. “Can I call you my boyfriend?”
“If you-“ Minseok burst out laughing and Junmyeon felt his ears heating up. “Of course you can, boyfriend,” he cooed and Junmyeon’s embarrassment just rose. “It’s really cute that you’re asking.”
“I just wasn’t sure,” Junmyeon mumbled, small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. Boyfriends. That sounded pretty good to him.
…their tongues battled for dominance as-
“Oh my god,” Junmyeon groaned, holding back the urge to toss the book away. He couldn’t damage the book, it wasn’t his. It was Minseok’s, with worn out pages and small stains here and there. Even though the novel itself was terrible, Junmyeon thanked the gods that he had improved since writing this, it actually warmed his heart to see that it’d been read a lot of times.
Okay Junmyeon, give it another chance, he told himself.
Jongkyu pulled back, removing his hands from Changhee's behind and Changhee whined, squirming on the bed. Jongkyu leaned over to the nightstand, his member pressing against the back of Changhee's thigh and excitement buzzed in his body.
"Jongkyu," he moaned, intentionally drawing out the syllables and he could hear Jongkyu inhale sharply.
“We’re out of lube,” he heard Jongkyu say. “I’m going to find something.”
"Hurry up," he groaned and the mattress shifted as Jongkyu got off. Changhee’s manhood was so hard and he was so horny. He could hear Jongkyu return and he turned his head to look at him.
“Honey will have to do,” Jongkyu said, climbing onto the bed and Changhee just whined again. He needed Jongkyu’s member inside him now!
Two honey-slick fingers was slowly pushing past his puckered hole and Changhee breathed out, trying to relax as Jongkyu pushed his fingers knuckle deep inside him. With his other hand, Jongkyu began to stroke Changhee's organ, making Changhee focus on that instead of the fingers in his asshole. He moved his fingers in and out a couple of times before adding a third one. Then he removed the hand from Changhee’s throbbing organ and reached for the bottle of honey, drizzling some on Changhee’s chest. He lean down and began to trail the honey with his tongue.
“Baby you taste so swee-
Nope. Junmyeon closed the book and placed it on the coffee table. How did this even pass his editor? Who even edited this? It wasn’t Jongdae, because the first time he worked together with Jongdae was for Fearless Tower, his third book.
How did this even get published? Junmyeon reached out to pick up the book again and turned to look at the back. It wasn’t his current publishing company that had published this. He had almost forgotten that he changed company after his second book, because the first one went bankrupt. Now looking at Thief of Seeds, he could understand why.
How could Minseok even recommend this book? It was horrible!
Junmyeon was rudely awoken by his phone blaring Dope by Bangtan. He opened his eyes and fumbled around in the dark, trying to find his phone. At last he found it and brought it closer to his face, to get a good look at the screen. It was Minseok who was calling him.
"Hello," he rasped out and pressed the phone against his ear.
"Did I wake you up?" Minseok asked, humor in his voice.
"Yeah," Junmyeon replied honestly, chuckling as he brought his free hand to rub his eyes. "It's okay."
"It's eleven anyway," Minseok said and Junmyeon hummed tiredly. "Maybe you should try and monitor your sleeping schedule a bit better?" He just hummed again.
"I had this rush of ideas yesterday," he explained and he could hear Minseok hum. "We didn't plan anything today right?"
"No we didn't," Minseok chuckled and Junmyeon felt like he could breathe a sigh of relief. How bad would it have been if he'd forgotten his boyfriend? Really bad. "But I was wondering if you're up for dinner tonight."
"Let me just..." Junmyeon trailed off, mustering all his strength to sit up. Something in the back of his head told him he was busy, but he had to check his schedule. He always carried a little calendar with him and it was usually left on his nightstand. "I'm going to check my schedule..." he said and Minseok hummed.
Flipping through the pages, Junmyeon tried to find today's date. Ah, finally he found it.
"Ah..." he said, biting his lip. "I can't tonight. I'm sorry." he said in an apologetic tone. The words "Livechat sci-fi con" stared back at him. He had almost forgotten about that. "I... I have a meeting with my editor. You know, we don't really work during normal times..." he added a rather awkward laugh after.
"I see," Minseok sounded crestfallen and Junmyeon felt really bad.
"But hey, if you have time tomorrow, I can bring some lunch to your work," Junmyeon said, hoping it'd cheer Minseok up a little.
"That sounds great!"
"Then I'll drop by tomorrow! I won't sleep as long as today, promise," Junmyeon said and Minseok chuckled on the other side.
"Promise?"
"Promise!" Junmyeon confirmed. "But I have to go and take a shower now, eat brunch or something..."
"Yeah, brunch, it's too late for breakfast," Minseok laughed. "I'll see you tomorrow then!"
"Yeah, bye!" Junmyeon said and waited for Minseok to hang up. When the connection broke, Junmyeon placed his phone back on the nightstand before rubbing his face with both hands.
The livechat was today, he hadn't prepared much at all. Last year he'd been insanely prepared. He looked at the clock. Eleven. He had five hours to set everything up and prepare. He... could do it. Maybe.
It might seem a little... odd for an author to do livechats like this, for a con. But Junmyeon had had this one book that got crazily popular in the sci-fi community (while his other fans... well, they hated it).
Junmyeon groaned as he stood up, his whole body feeling stiff after too many hours in front of the computer last night. He began to make his way towards the kitchen, rubbing his eyes. It honestly felt like someone had poured two bags of sand in his eyes.
When his eyes finally felt somewhat normal, Junmyeon dropped his hand and managed to catch a glimpse of his bookshelf.
"What a disaster..." he mumbled to himself, stopping in front of the bookshelf. He had a lot of books but not the energy to keep his bookshelf organized. He had a lot of books, the full Harry Potter series, all of the published Game Of Thrones books, his own books, the Star Wars comics, all of professor Tolkien's books, the original trilogy of the Star Wars books, the Chronicles of Narnia, and other books here and there.
But the thing was... that he just placed the books here and there. They didn't have a place. So he had two Harry Potter, second and seventh book, and books at the top shelf, with In Country and Chorus of Mushrooms squeezed in between them and beside the second book stood On Writing by Stephen King, followed by The Witch, The Lion and The Wardrobe.
On the second shelf was the whole Game of Thrones serie, not in order and the thin book Woza Albert was squeezed in between them, followed by book number one of the Star Wars trilogy and sixth Harry Potter book. He had his second book, The Lovely World, on that shelf as well.
To be honest, The Lovely World was one of his favorites of the books he'd written. It was a bit ridiculous and embarrassing but he found the story quite cute.
He smiled as he looked down on the third shelf and his smile fell quickly. Tangled Up. The text on the book's spine stared back at him and Junmyeon glared back. Tangled Up was the reason he had this livechat. He had just really wanted to try something new and he refused to show Jongdae anything until he was almost done. Not that Jongdae thought it sucked, he just thought Junmyeon should have thought twice about it, because the content was a bit odd.
But they still sold it on sci-fi cons, some of them signed, so Junmyeon shouldn't really complain. Tangled Up paid for his living.
Suddenly his stomach let out a loud growl and reminded Junmyeon that he was human and had to eat something. He looked away from his messy bookshelf and went to the kitchen to make some food and coffee.
It wasn't long until the livechat would start, Junmyeon glanced up on the clock, only five minutes left. He had just received a rather angry snapchat from Jongdae who demanded him to send a draft.
Junmyeon just rolled his eyes and snapped a picture of his computer screen.
'I'm going to livechat' he just wrote and sent it. He was just about to place his phone on the side when he got a reply.
'Bring me the draft'
Junmyeon just sighed, his draft wasn't done. He didn't feel 100% confident to show it to Jongdae yet. He was just about to reply when another snap popped up.
'istg i will send this to ur mom'
In the picture was a book, none other than Tangled up and beside a package with Junmyeon's mom's name and address on. Junmyeon just groaned, he didn't have time to argue with Jongdae right now. He took another picture of his screen for Jongdae.
'lets meet tomorrow gtg'
He switched his phone to silent mode and looked up on his screen. He could see the little circle spinning, meaning it was trying to connect now. He didn't really know why he was nervous, maybe because he had no idea what questions he would get and he wouldn't have time to think about his answers like he could when he did email interviews.
If he remembered correctly, there would be a few people chatting with him, selected via a small competition before the event.
'Hi Suho!' a message suddenly popped up on his screen. 'My name is Minjun, pls reply !! ♡♡♡’
'Hello Minjun,' Junmyeon just typed back. 'It's nice to meet you!'
Half a minute passed then suddenly he was bombed with questions. He just blinked and scanned all questions. He just had to get started then.
TentacleCocks: Are you going to write a sequel to Tangled Up?!
GuardianSuho: I don't know? Do you want one? Hahaha!
To be honest Junmyeon actually had a half done manuscript of a sequel to Tangled Up, lying in one of his drawers, but he was too scared to show it to Jongdae. Jongdae would just laugh in his face. Because Jongdae thought Tangled Up was ridiculous and had said earlier that he would never allow Junmyeon to publish a sequel.
Suho-dUp: What inspired you to write Tangled Up?
This was a really tricky question, because Junmyeon wasn't really sure what inspired him. He had just written Tangled Up in a whim, just simply because he liked the idea. He tried thinking back four years. What would 22-year-old Junmyeon, with a writer’s block, do to get some inspiration?
Back then, Junmyeon had only released three books, one with just porn, one with just romance and one with short romantic stories. Jongdae had been hovering over him like a hawk, demanding an idea soon or else he would send a pdf of Junmyeon's first book, Thief of Seeds, to his mom.
Finally his mind clicked and he remembered exactly what he did. He found a TVXQ (Yunjae to be specific) space au fanfiction where Jaejoong was a human captured by a different species and Yunho just happened to be one of the generals on the spaceship. It had been kind of cliché but there had been a mention of a species with tentacles and Junmyeon's mind was burning with ideas.
Maybe he shouldn't tell that to his fans.
GuardianSuho: I read a lot...
Mr.Spock: Can Hyunki get pregnant from Kangdae's slime?
GuardianSuho: ...maybe
Queensquid: wHAT WILL THEIR BABIES LOOK LIKE?!??!?!?
GuardianSuho: That's something for you to imagine!! :DDD
Suho69: MARRY ME
Wow that's straightforward, Junmyeon chuckled as he typed the reply 'noooo i can't be unfaithful!!!!!’
Inkyguardian: R u single?
GuardianSuho: Nope(!!!)
FuckMe: Have u ever had tentacle sex?
Junmyeon stared at the question, trying to figure out how to reply to it. Of course he hadn't had tentacle sex, how would that even be possible?
OrganizerJungah: Come on guys! We talked about this!! Please don't ask these things!
HyunDae69: whats ur fave sex position
OrganizerJungah: PLEASE DONT
Pinkpeaches: What kind of book are you writing rn?
Anonymous: pls fuck me
OrganizerJungah: IM SO SORRY SUHO!!!!!!!
Junmyeon smiled, pitying the organizer a little. Fans sometimes got out of hand and it wasn't like he actually minded the questions, because he wasn't in front of a huge crowd. Had he been, he would just flush, stutter and look like a tomato. He had to assure the organizer that it was okay later.
Suholove: omFG UR NOT SINGLE!??! TELL US
Junmyeon laughed, starting to type a reply to this fan. He was proud to tell everyone about his boyfriend, and describe just how wonderful he was, without mentioning name of course.
"You know," Jongdae began, sending Junmyeon an unreadable look. "I really need to see your draft soon. That last thing you submitted wasn’t satisfying at all."
"It's not done yet," Junmyeon mumbled into his coffee.
"Yeah but I actually have to see the progress so I can evaluate it and maybe you're on the wrong path, if so I can help you to find the right way," Jongdae said, earning an agreeing hum from Taekwoon beside him. Junmyeon really liked Taekwoon, but he had no idea why Jongdae dragged his fellow editor with him. Taekwoon didn't even seem interested in their conversation, he was just reading the newspaper.
"I'm on the right path Jongdae, don't worry!" Junmyeon groaned, placing down his cup.
"Yeah that's what you said about Tangled Up too," Jongdae pointed out and Taekwoon looked up from the newspaper to send Junmyeon a glance. Junmyeon felt like burying himself.
"Let's not talk about Tangled Up," Junmyeon said, stuffing half of his muffin into his mouth.
"No but let's speak about lasts night’s livechat, I saw some of it on the Internet," Jongdae continued and Junmyeon kept quiet, chewing on his muffin. "I saw you went public with your relationship."
Junmyeon choked. He had completely forgotten about that fact that he went sort of public with his relationship, minus the names.
"I'm kind of hurt," Jongdae pouted. "You only told me you had a crush, you never told me you got a boyfriend. I should be the first person you tell about these things."
"You're just my editor," Junmyeon deadpanned and Jongdae gasped, placing a hand on his chest. But then he just laughed and leaned forward.
"So, what's his name? What is he like?"
If he didn't tell Jongdae now, he would never be left alone.
"His name is Minseok, he's a year older than me, works as an architect and he's nice."
"Just nice?" Jongdae raised an eyebrow and Junmyeon groaned, sending Taekwoon a pleading look. Taekwoon just stared at him, eyebrow raised. "I think you said more than just nice last night."
"Taekwoon please change the subject," Junmyeon whined, turning to look on the older of the two editors.
"Well..." Taekwoon began slowly, placing the newspaper to the side. "I'm currently working with a kid whose about to publish his first book."
This was new information; Junmyeon didn't even know Taekwoon had been thinking of working with a rookie author. But he was grateful for the change of subject and immediately launched into a conversation about Taekwoon's new colleague.
"Hey," Junmyeon said as they arrived to his apartment complex and Minseok hummed, giving Junmyeon's hand a light squeeze. "Do you maybe want to... follow me inside?"
"That'd be nice," Minseok replied and Junmyeon's smile widened, pulling Minseok towards the door. He quickly unlocked the door with the pass code and held up the door for Minseok.
"I-I haven't cleaned so, uh, it's quite messy," Junmyeon confessed as they stood in the elevator, still holding hands. "I know you're a neat person and I'm not and I'm really sorry about the state of my apartment."
"I think your worries are in vain," Minseok just said, chuckling. "I can survive in a messy apartment, it's not like I'm going to die."
"Alright," Junmyeon mumbled, lowering his head. "I can be neat." That was a lie but sometimes he tried to be neat. "I'm just... nearing a deadline."
"I'm sure you can," Minseok sounded amused.
The elevator finally stopped, on the seventh floor and Junmyeon let go of Minseok's hand to look for his keys.
His apartment was dark, as he didn't bother to leave the lights on when he was out, and when he pressed the light button and the room lit up, he was relieved to see that the state of his hall wasn't terrible.
"It's quite small but... yeah, feel at home," Junmyeon said as he kicked off his shoes. He placed his keys on the small bench just inside the door and looked at Minseok. "Do you want coffee or tea?"
"Tea would be great, considering the hour," Minseok replied, taking off his shoes and placing them on the side.
"Alright," Junmyeon said and stepped inside his living room, followed by Minseok. "Here's my living room," he waved both his arms around and Minseok nodded. "And kitchen around the corner," he continued, turning around to point on the wall. Then he turned back and pointed to his right, at his half closed bedroom door. "There's my bedroom, I'll show it to you later, when I've cleaned it."
"You shouldn't worry so much," Minseok said, smile stretching wide on his lips.
"Toilet is the door in the hall," Junmyeon continued, tiny smile on his face. "Just, sit down or... yeah, do whatever you feel like, I'll get some tea," he finished and turned around. He went out to the kitchen to start a pot of water and as soon as it was on, he just stood still, nervously drumming his fingers against the counter.
Should he go back out to the living room or should he just stay here as he said? He busied himself with taking out two cups, one Darth Vader cup and one Yoda cup. Would Minseok think he was ridiculous if he served him tea in a Darth Vader cup?
Probably.
Junmyeon quickly checked his shelf if he had any other cups but the only other clean cups he had was his Jurassic Park cups.
Meanwhile he was debating with himself, the boiler signaled that it was done and he decided that the Star Wars cups would have to do. He just sighed as he poured hot water into the two cups before getting the tea bags.
After placing the cups, milk and tea bags on a tray, Junmyeon carefully picked it up before heading back to the living room.
Minseok was currently looking at his bookshelf and Junmyeon suddenly felt really embarrassed over the mess. He coughed awkwardly as he placed down the tray on the table in front of the couch. "It's... a bit messy, sorry."
"It is, but it's not terrible," Minseok laughed, turning around to look at Junmyeon. "But you have all of Suho's books."
"I do," Junmyeon mumbled, sitting down on his couch the same time as Minseok.
"You should have told me, then I wouldn't have suggested those books for you to read," Minseok said, reaching for one of the teacups. After eyeing both cups, he finally picked the Yoda cup and sent Junmyeon a small smile before bringing it to his lips.
"I was curious to see what you had to say about him," Junmyeon said and he wasn't actually lying. He had been curious to know about what Minseok thought about his books. Thankfully it had been mostly good things.
"Now seeing your bookshelf actually gives me an idea of what kind of books you like," Minseok continued and Junmyeon smiled, reaching for the Darth Vader cup. "Now I can give you some really good suggestions on books."
“You don’t have to,” Junmyeon said. “I actually just wanted to know what kind of books you liked.”
He smiled widely as Minseok chuckled and raised his cup to his lips, taking a small sip of the hot tea.
Junmyeon gripped the shoulder strap of his bag tightly as he pressed the doorbell. What if he was at the wrong apartment? His palms were sweaty and he swallowed hard when he heard footsteps approaching the door.
Fortunately it's Minseok who opened the door and Junmyeon could breathe a sigh of relief.
"You found your way!" Minseok exclaimed, stepping to the side to allow Junmyeon to enter his apartment. Taking one look at Minseok's hall, Junmyeon could conclude that Minseok was a neat person. He had had his suspicions about this earlier but seeing his apartment convinced Junmyeon.
"I did," he said, eyeing the shoe rack where the shoes were neatly lined up. "It wasn't that difficult," he lied. He had left half an hour earlier than needed because he knew he would get lost. At last he'd asked an old lady, who had been walking her Chihuahua, for the directions.
"And you're just on time," Minseok smiled. "The food is almost done. Just take of your coat and hang it there," he pointed on one of the coat hangers with a little metal plate above spelling out "guests". "And just put your shoes there," he continued and motioned down to the shoe rack where there was an empty spot with another guest sign above.
Terribly organized, Junmyeon thought as he placed his shoes on the shoe rack. I don't even have a shoe rack!
He followed Minseok into the apartment, looking around. It was a big apartment, bigger than Junmyeon's and the walls were painted a creamy white, adored a few surrealistic artworks. The whole place was organized neatly and was cleaned to perfection. Junmyeon needed to learn how to clean his apartment like this.
"You can just put your bag beside the couch," Minseok told him and Junmyeon nodded, quickly padding over to the couch and putting down his bag. "I'm just finishing the soup," he continued and went into the kitchen, Junmyeon following close behind.
Minseok's kitchen was bright and clean as well, the only sign of life was the boiling pot on the stove.
"It's my mom receipt, I hope you'll like it," Minseok said, moving the pot off the stove before lifting the lid and Junmyeon peered down at the soup. It both looked and smelled delicious.
"It looks really good," he said, smiling widely at Minseok. "I'm sure it tastes great!"
"It's done now, but I was thinking that I'll show you around before we eat. Is that okay or are you starving?"
"No I'd love to see your apartment first," Junmyeon sent Minseok another smile and Minseok reached out to grab his hand, giving it a light squeeze.
"Alright, this is my kitchen," he turned around a little, still holding onto Junmyeon's hand. "It's not much really."
"It looks better than my kitchen... I wonder how much you suffered in my apartment," Junmyeon said. He hadn't cleaned his stove in a while, Minseok's were spotless, and Minseok must really have suffered because his place was just so dirty compared to Minseok's.
"No, it's okay," Minseok assured him, stroking Junmyeon's hand with his thumb before pulling him along to the living room. Junmyeon didn't believe him.
"Living room," Minseok continued. "I don't... have much here yet... I moved here about eight months ago. I lived in a one room apartment before."
"Oh," Junmyeon looked around the living room. Yes it was a bit bare but if he'd gone from a one room apartment to a three room apartment, then it was understandable.
Minseok then pushed open one of the doors and turned on the lights. It was an office with a big desk with a huge lamp above. Two huge bookshelves stood on each side of the desk and both of them had lots of binders in different colors, and organized by colors.
"I work at home most of the time," Minseok said and Junmyeon nodded. They weren't that different then. Except that Minseok had an office. And a better paycheck probably. "But this is the bookshelves I keep the construction plans and all those things."
"You're so organized," Junmyeon couldn't get over the fact that Minseok's binders are organized by colors. "Please organize my life for me."
Minseok didn't reply to him. He simply laughed and flicked Junmyeon's nose.
"Here's where I keep my books," he said and Junmyeon turned around a little to see another bookshelf, this one filled with books with different titles and authors. He could see Harry Potter, Lord of The Rings, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, The Great Gatsby and- Junmyeon had to blink. All of his books. All six of them. Even Tangled Up, which Minseok had thought was a bit odd.
"You got a lot of books," Junmyeon said. As he looked over the bookshelf again, he realized that they were organized after the author. “I’m so jealous,” he continued, bumping his shoulder against Minseok’s. “Please teach me how to organize things.”
“Oh believe me,” Minseok began, pinching Junmyeon’s nose playfully. “I’ll teach you.”
Junmyeon had been rather nervous about staying over at Minseok’s apartment, even more so when he’d asked where he would sleep and Minseok had replied “my bed of course”, and he had been considering turning down the offer. But as he slowly awoke from a rather good sleep, he decided that staying over at Minseok’s place had been a very good idea.
Minseok was soundly asleep, his mouth slightly parted and snoring softly. He looked younger when he slept, a lot more relaxed but still as handsome as ever. Junmyeon couldn’t help but stare. His heart was drumming against his ribcage, a bit faster than usually and a wide smile stretched over his lips. He watched as Minseok’s eyes slowly opened and his chest felt warm as Minseok sent him a sleepy smile.
“Morning,” he mumbled, his voice rough and Junmyeon inched close, his warm feet touching Minseok’s.
“Morning,” he replied, his voice a bit less rough and he moved even closer to steal some of the warmth Minseok radiated. Still smiling he gave Minseok a quick kiss, only to pull back and grimace playfully. “Ew, morning breath,” he said, but gave Minseok another kiss, this time at the corner of his lips.
“Don’t complain,” Minseok pulled a hand out from under the covers and ran two fingers along Junmyeon’s jaw. “I can see your morning stubble,” he finished and pinched Junmyeon’s nose.
“You look handsome and I like you a lot! Even if you have morning breath,” Junmyeon said and Minseok chuckled, tangling their legs together and pressing his bare chest against Junmyeon’s.
“And I like you a lot, even if you have morning stubble and look a bit dumb.”
“Dumb?” Junmyeon faked a hurt tone. “I look dumb?”
“A little,” Minseok hummed and kissed Junmyeon, taking his hand under the covers and laced their fingers together. “But that's okay.”
Junmyeon just hummed, squeezing Minseok’s hand, tucking his head into Minseok’s collarbone and closed his eyes. He had forgotten how it felt to actually cuddle in the mornings like this. He had no idea how much he’d actually missed it.
“Do we have to get out of bed anytime soon?” he asked, suddenly feeling sleepy as Minseok began to thread his fingers through Junmyeon’s brown hair.
“No,” Minseok said, pressing his lips against his scalp.
“Good,” Junmyeon replied, smiling as he pressed his lips against Minseok’s neck. “Because this is really nice.”
Fall slowly became winter with colder winds and some snow on the ground. Junmyeon disliked winter. His face always became dry as a desert and he really disliked being cold. He had to dress up in layers and layers of clothes to keep warm.
His book was slowly building up and he actually felt like he was getting closer to the end. What was even better was that Jongdae actually liked it. That felt really reassuring.
Minseok’s work continued to keep him busy but they still tried to meet up as often as possible, meeting at coffee shops, sometimes going to the movies or just staying over at each other’s apartments.
It was amazing and when Junmyeon looked back on his life before he met Minseok, he realized just how much color Minseok brought with him.
New Year wasn't something Junmyeon really celebrated. The Christmas – New Year period was usually quite hectic and he preferred to stay in his apartment and avoid all the unnecessary stress.
The last time he celebrated New Year was eight years back and it had been a party with his classmates. To be honest, Junmyeon couldn't remember enough of the party to say if it had been fun or not. The day after had been spent in the darkness of his room, taking too many painkillers.
This year, Minseok just suggested that they would stay over at his place, eat dinner and simply enjoy each other's company.
At six p.m., as Junmyeon was making his way to Minseok's apartment, he could already hear firework going off somewhere. Crazy people, he thought, burying his nose in his scarf. The cold was starting to bite his cheeks and nose. Thankfully he wasn't that far from Minseok's apartment now.
His grip around the strings around the cake box tightened as the wind picked up and he tried to hide his nose deeper into his scarf.
At last he got to the door, leading into Minseok's apartment house. He quickly brushed away the snow from his hair and went to the elevator. Minseok lived on the fourth floor so he'd rather take the elevator than the stairs.
The elevator was quiet and Junmyeon moved his lips, trying to warm up his facial muscles again. It felt like his face was just a block of ice.
He finally stopped with his lip movements as he pressed the doorbell to Minseok's apartment and he began to move his toes, making sure he didn't lose any of them in the cold.
"I was beginning to worry!" Minseok said as soon as he opened the door and Junmyeon smiled widely, his face still feeling stiff.
"It was really cold," Junmyeon replied, stepping inside Minseok's apartment. "Here," he said, giving Minseok the box with the cake and pressed a quick kiss against Minseok's lips. Minseok chuckled before leaving Junmyeon alone in the hall. Junmyeon began to take his shoes of, picking them up to place them on the shoe rack but as soon as his eyes fell on the shoe rack, he froze.
Where it previously had been a small sign spelling out guests, there were now a sign with neat letters spelling out "Junmyeon". He immediately turned his head around to look at the coat hanger. There was one "guests" and one "Junmyeon" sign.
He hadn't expected this to be honest and it stirred an odd sensation in his chest. He felt really happy. Happy that Minseok was letting him inside his life like this.
He quickly put away his shoes and coat before hurrying to the kitchen, where he assumed Minseok would be. As he crossed the living room, he almost slipped in his hurry but managed to steady himself. Getting hurt on New Year didn't sound that good.
Minseok was just closing the refrigerator as Junmyeon entered. He didn't say a word to Minseok as he walked up to him, he just cupped Minseok's face and pressed small kisses against Minseok's cheeks. Minseok just chuckled as he did and when he was done, he dropped his arms to wrap them around Minseok's waist and press his face into Minseok's collarbone.
"You wrote my name on the shoe rack and the coat hanger," he mumbled, smile tugging on his lips.
"I did," Minseok said, playing with the hair in Junmyeon's nape. "I thought that maybe it was time you had your space here."
Junmyeon thought that his heart might actually explode. "I'm really happy," he said, his lips against Minseok's collarbone in an open mouthed kiss. He then straightened up, his arms still around Minseok's waist and he looked Minseok straight in the eyes. "I'm really happy I got to spend a major part of this year together with you I-"
Minseok simply cut him off with a flick on his forehead and a kiss. "Save those cheesy word for midnight."
Both of them were covered in snow, laughing as they stepped into the elevator. Having a sort of snowball fight while holding a grocery bag wasn't that successful and both of them had ended up with snow in their faces.
Junmyeon shook his head as soon as they were inside his apartment, placing down the bag on the floor. He kicked off his shoes and picked up the bag again, padding through his apartment to the kitchen. Today was Valentine’s Day and they hadn't planned to do more than make dinner and then maybe watch a movie.
They had decided to just make a simple dinner, spicy chicken and rice and they had bought a fancy bottle of wine to go with it.
Junmyeon himself wasn't the most skillful in the kitchen, but he could do well if he was told what to do, and luckily Minseok was quite good at cooking so at least they would get food on the table.
As Junmyeon began to take out the groceries from the bags, Minseok picked up the bottle of wine and began to look through Junmyeon's cupboards. Only then did it hit Junmyeon that he didn't actually own any wine glasses.
"...We should have bought some wine glasses," Junmyeon said and Minseok laughed, opening another cupboard and taking out two Jurassic Park cups.
"We'll just use this," he smiled widely, holding one cup in each hand.
"Romantic," Junmyeon remarked dryly, smile tugging on the corner of his lips. Minseok just chuckled, placing down the cups on the counter before grabbing Junmyeon by the waist, pulling him so close that their chests were pressed together.
Tilting his head a little to the side, Minseok pressed a kiss against Junmyeon's lips, grin on his lips when he pulled back. "Very," he said and Junmyeon laughed, kissing Minseok again. When they parted, they both just smiled widely before getting back to what they were doing.
"I think I'll slice the chicken," Minseok said as Junmyeon ripped the plastic bag, containing chicken, open. "Let's not get our food bloody."
Junmyeon just stuck his tongue out and placed down the chicken on the chopping board. "I'll make the sauce then," he said and Minseok hummed, taking a knife to start slicing the chicken while Junmyeon began with the sauce.
They cooked the dinner in comfortable silence, sometimes holding shorter conversations about just about anything. As the sauce was slowly cooking, Junmyeon poured some wine into the two, very romantic, Jurassic Park cups.
“This classifies as romantic,” Minseok said as Junmyeon offered him a cup, glancing down in the pan at the chicken he was frying. He turned back to look up at Junmyeon again, smile on his lips, before he took the first sip of his wine. "Tastes nice," he said and Junmyeon hummed into his cup. Whoever said wine tasted better in wine glasses was a big fat liar.
While Minseok finished cooking, Junmyeon began to set the table. He only lit one candle on the table and two others around his apartment, just in case he managed to knock something down, then it would only be three candles.
Their dinner wasn't anything special, just chicken with some spicy sauce and rice. A nice Friday dinner. They sat around Junmyeon's round table, feet bumping together and sometimes Minseok just stroked his foot up Junmyeon's calf, both of them laughing because it was kind of ridiculous.
"Junmyeon," Minseok began just as Junmyeon placed the last plate into the dishwasher.
"Yes?" he asked, closing the dishwasher.
"There's something I..." Minseok continued, trailing off and Junmyeon frowned. What was Minseok talking about? It seemed quite impossible that Minseok would break up with him, but a small little knot of worry formed in Junmyeon's gut. "Can I organize your bookshelf?"
"Oh," Junmyeon said dumbly and a sheepish smile spread over Minseok's lips.
"Yeah, I..." he chuckled. "You know, I really hate your bookshelf."
"I know," Junmyeon couldn't help but laugh. Minseok was a neat person. Of course he would hate Junmyeon's bookshelf. "You can organize it if you want, but you really don't have to."
"No I want to," Minseok insisted and Junmyeon nodded. "If you just sit down and write or something, I know you've had lots of ideas, then when I'm done, we can watch a movie or something."
"That sounds really good," Junmyeon nodded and they both left the kitchen to go to the living room. "You won't be bothered with me writing?" he asked, absentmindedly running his hand up Minseok's arm.
"Nope," Minseok replied, popping the 'p'. "It's an active choice to date an author," he leaned closer to kiss Junmyeon on the nose and Junmyeon just scrunched his nose, but still smiled. "I know what to expect of you."
Junmyeon laughed, pressing a quick against Minseok's lips before hurrying to his bedroom to get his computer. Minseok knew him well, he had a few ideas spinning in his head and his fingers were itching to write at least some of them down. When he got back to the living room, Minseok was already beginning to take out books from his bookshelf, placing them on the floor before he could sort them into the right place on the shelf.
Junmyeon sat down on the couch, laptop open in his lap and he joined his hands together, rubbing his thumbs, before starting to write.
“Beautiful,” Euntaek whispered when he leaned down to place a kiss on Chanyong’s soft, flat belly. Then he placed another kiss above the previous kiss, his hand on Chanyong's hip, rubbing small circles. Then another. He continued to slowly trail kisses up Junmyeon’s belly, to his pectorals where he began to gently suck on the skin, leaving small purple marks behind.
Chanyong was biting his lower lip, trying to hold in the moans that threatened to spill. But when Minseok sucked on his sensitive chest, he couldn’t hold it anymore and let out a long groan. He could feel Euntaek’s fingers traveling up the sides of his torso, leaving his skin burning under his touch.
“Minseok,” he gaspe-
Holy fuck. Junmyeon stared horrified at his computer, feeling how all his blood just rushed to his face. He had just written his boyfriend's name instead of his character's name. Fuck. Junmyeon slowly looked up on Minseok, to make sure he didn't see this.
Much to his relief, Minseok was still organizing the books. Wow he had a great backside, Junmyeon noted, swallowing hard. He looked great actually, standing on his toes to place a book on the top shelf. Wow how did he manage to get such a hot boyfriend?
"Are you okay?" Minseok suddenly asked and Junmyeon snapped out of his own world at the same time as he slammed his laptop shut.
"Fine!" he replied, maybe too quickly and Minseok just gave him this look of disbelief. He coughed awkwardly, trying to think of something to say. "Do you need any help?"
"No, it's okay," Minseok replied and Junmyeon sent him a stiff smile. "Are you sure you're okay? You're not typing anymore... did you get stuck?"
"No I-" I just fucking wrote your name in an erotic situation. "Yeah, it's nothing serious. I'm back to writing tomorrow."
"Alright," Minseok didn't look convinced but he turned back to the shelf to continue with Junmyeon's books. "I'm sorting them after the author," he said and Junmyeon nodded, looking down on the remaining books on the floor. It seemed like it was only his own books and a few other books, by various authors, left.
Sudden guilt coiled in Junmyeon's gut. He still hadn't told Minseok about his books and now after dating for a while now... maybe it was time to tell him.
"Your copies doesn't seem as worn out as mine," Minseok commented, laughing as he picked up Thief of Seeds. Junmyeon could just feel his face burn in shame, both due to the recent event and that book. Oh how he wished he could remove Thief of Seeds from his list of novels.
Minseok continued to put up his books on the shelf, in the order they had been released, and when he picked up Tangled Up, Junmyeon just wished he'd never brought his books home like this. Minseok was actually flipping through the pages and Junmyeon just stared at him, watching his face closely, to look for any sort of reaction.
"Why are some parts highlighted?" Minseok asked, looking up at Junmyeon with a curious expression. He'd totally forgotten that he'd highlighted parts of Tangled Up, things that could be important for the sequel.
"Uh..."
"And it's signed?!" Minseok continued flipping the pages and Junmyeon felt like sinking through the floor. "But... Suho doesn't sign his books?"
"Uh... no he doesn't," Junmyeon swallowed. He had to tell Minseok now. Even though this was not how he wanted to tell him.
"Then do you know him?"
"No I..." what the fuck should he say? "I'm... him?" Fuck he made that sound like a question. "I mean, I... uh, I use the alias Suho... so uh, that's my books... I-I'm sorry I didn't tell you before I was going to but I didn't know how? How do I tell my boyfriend that I write erotic novels and I hate some of them? I didn't want to tell you when we first met becau-"
Junmyeon was cut off when Minseok just placed Tangled Up on the shelf and left the room without a word.
Junmyeon you fucking idiot.
Junmyeon slowly placed his laptop on the coffee table before slapping his hands over his face. He was just about to flop down on the couch, maybe cry a little in agony, when Minseok returned with a book in his hands and Junmyeon stared wide eyed at him.
Still not saying anything, Minseok sat down beside Junmyeon and held out the book for him. It was Beans n' Cream, Minseok's favorite book of all his released books.
"Could you please sign this for me?" he asked and Junmyeon couldn't help but laugh, loudly. It felt like a ton just dropped from his shoulders and he just grabbed Minseok's collar and roughly kissed him.
"I thought you were going to leave!" he whined as soon as they both pulled back and he tugged on Minseok's shirt again when a sheepish smile stretched Minseok's lips. He had to wipe that stupid smile of Minseok's handsome face.
"Are you going to sign my book?" Minseok whispered against Junmyeon's lips, still smiling and Junmyeon just chuckled.
"Anything for my boyfriend," he said as he leaned back, taking the book from Minseok. "I'll get a pen and do it later."
"Promise?" Minseok asked and Junmyeon nodded. "Okay... one more question!"
"What is it?" Junmyeon felt like his face was going to break in two. He felt so happy right now.
"When are you releasing a new book?" Minseok asked and Junmyeon just laughed again.
